Laser PA-NY Gathering Line Info

Project Overview:

Our principal project is the Susquehanna Gathering System which gathers natural gas from wells tapping the Marcellus Shale formation to where it interconnects with the Millennium interstate pipeline to transport natural gas safely and efficiently throughout the country. The Marcellus Shale formation covers 65 million acres running through Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and southern New York.

  • Increased local tax revenues
  • Ongoing easement payments to local landowners while allowing full use of the property and full mineral rights
  • 700+ construction jobs over a two-to-three month period with many of the positions being hired locally
  • 300+ jobs for future expansion projects

Significant increase in local economic activity for businesses including:

  • Restaurants
  • Hotels

Energy & Environmental Benefits

Natural gas is one of the cleanest fuels available with significantly lower emissions and fewer pollutants than oil or coal. The use of natural gas helps to preserve clean air and improve environmental quality. In addition, domestic production of clean natural gas helps reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources and keeps dollars spent on energy within our local economies. It is projected that natural gas collected through the Laser gathering line will have a delivered price lower than natural gas from distant sources, thereby helping to reduce both regional gas and electricity prices.
